Here’s why I think Squarespace is the best website builder and host.

As a disclaimer: I have built websites on many platforms and with multiple providers. And while there are plenty of benefits in using, let’s say the market leader WordPress, I think Squarespace is truly running for their money if not winning the race. If you’re currently wondering which provider for your new website, e-commerce shop, blog, or online portfolio, read this post to learn why Squarespace definitely puts a superior offering on the table.

1) Website hosting is always included.

One of my absolute favorite things about Squarespace is that it makes having a website so easy with its in-house hosting. I learned the hard way that web hosting is actually not necessarily as easy of an additional task to have as I thought. Even regardless of there being many possible web hosting services available, such a “small” task can actually cause quite a bit of extra hassle. And we are all here for the simple and effortless work, to save time and effort for more important matters in our business!

With Squarespace, you also get to pick a domain right there at the checkout, and with the hosting, SSL, and DNS included, the price actually begins to feel rather low. IN ADDITION, they offer fast, 24/7 customer support via email and chat. It can be a factor that’s easily overlooked… until you need it. BADLY. Luckily, with Squarespace issues have been minimum, but there is always something you might need help with, and quite promptly too.

Needless to say, Squarespace offers so much value for the buck that I don’t mind paying it, nor do I feel any shame in recommending Squarespace to my customers.

2) Extensive analytics

Squarespace offers a really extensive amount of analytics about your visitors, such as:

  • general demographics

  • traffic sources

  • devices and browsers they use

as well as well-organized information about:

  • conversions on your website such as link and button clicks

  • page and content views – unique views and spent time page by page

  • e-commerce statistics such as product views and abandoned cart statistics

  • number of orders

  • best keywords and keyword suggestions

And these are just some examples. I would recommend also using an external analytics tool such as Google Analytics and Meta, and it is necessary if you’ll be running paid ads. However, Squarespace offers a really nice way to quickly understand the key KPIs of your website without the need to bounce from one tab to another if you need to check one minor thing.

3) Built-in SEO

So, you’ve probably heard the abbreviation SEO. It stands for Search Engine Optimization and it’s probably one of the hottest topics today and has been for several years in the world of marketing. Why? Because it is essentially a free way to widen your reach and visibility in different digital channels. Of course, in order to be able to compete in search engines, you need to be well-educated about the topic, or preferably hire an expert. SEO is also a continuous process, which is why it is definitely recommended to work with professionals to implement it properly. It is an investment, but most probably a very lucrative one!

What does Squarespace do for SEO? Well, for starters, there are a lot of technical aspects of SEO that are not that simple to do as a rookie. Squarespace takes care of these “little” things for you. Some of them include

  • SSL,

  • automatic sitemaps,

  • clean code and website structure,

  • and easy built-in injection of meta and alt-details

These are all crucial starting points when it comes to ranking well in search engines. Minor details, major impact.

Squarespace also enables a simple way to connect your website or online store to Google Search Console straight from your settings. Connecting GSC is essential to index your website and its pages so that Google’s crawling robots can find them, identify them correctly, and thus list your website in relevant search results (assuming you have done your job in delivering keyword and topic-optimized content on your site).

4) All necessary integrations are available.

In addition to being able to connect your website with plenty of external software and service providers such as email marketing software, Squarespace has its own plugins for email marketing, booking appointments, and scheduling them. These plugins and their features come with an extra price, but it is quite competitive with other services and software out there. Plus, they are right there in-house that again offer us what we loooove: simplicity and effortlessness.

They have also teamed up with Google, to offer your new website a free subscription to Google Workspace, including an email domain for your business for one year, after which you’ll start paying a fee to Google. However, as it is a connected service, it’s very easy and quick to set up and it doesn’t require any technical knowledge about CNETs and DNS, etc. unlike connecting a Microsoft domain for example.

5) Versatility from a website to an e-commerce store, to an online course provider

You can do so much with Squarespace! You can grow your existing website into a big e-commerce store if desired, and you can add so many unique features that will level up your website and brand offering. You want to include a members-only section to your website? Possible with Squarespace. What about broadening your product offering with online courses or other similar material? Squarespace can enable you just that.

You can start your website as a one-pager, maybe a blog or an online portfolio, and develop it almost endlessly. This is one of my favorite things about Squarespace: it’s like the sky is the limit.

6) Visual to design, simple to use.

In Squarespace, you can design your website in a visual way with no need to understand code. You can start from a blank page or choose one of the stylish templates to work with, while being able to customize every single detail from fonts to colors, adding or removing sections, and plenty more. You can also separately edit the layout for a computer and for a mobile device, which is incredibly important for any website today, as most users first engage with a website on their phone and maybe after moving the browsing to a computer or a tablet.

Your dashboard and settings are organized, clear, and easy to navigate through. You can also access your website on your mobile device by using the Squarespace app. Of course, I don’t recommend editing your website on your phone, but if you need to check something when you’re on the go, or maybe write and publish a blog post, it’s quite convenient.

Conclusion

I fell in love with Squarespace due to its simplicity, yet powerful abilities. Using Squarespace takes so much effort and work off my shoulders as an entrepreneur and a website owner, that in my mind it is unbeatable. The versatility of designing and growing a website on Squarespace is short of the competition, while their award-winning customer support is the cherry on top.

While there are many amazing qualities about Squarespace, I still encourage my customers, and you, to familiarize yourself with the options available to better understand which serves your needs the best and offers you the value you seek.
